Pricing Strategy Manager - Mars Snacking (Finance)

Job Description:

The Pricing Strategy Manager reports to the SRM Pricing Lead serving as a key business partner and the pricing expert for the local unit. The SRM Pricing Manager ensures improved SRM pricing capabilities and market delivery of strategic pricing objectives for profitable value and volume growth in collaboration with the Pricing Lead.

The primary objectives for the Pricing Strategy Manager are:

  • Support development of portfolio pricing strategy and price-value actions for profitable value and volume growth. This includes collaboration across all functions to deliver a holistic Price Value chain approach, ensuring category, consumer, customer, company (CBU) and competitive impacts are well-understood and integrated within pack-price recommendations and execution plans.
  • Support the local cross-functional Pricing Council. This includes ensuring regular monitoring and assessment of portfolio pricing performance versus the category, development of strategic pricing recommendations and project management of price-value actions & execution (through Annual Plan and S&OP+ process cycles).
  • Drive development of portfolio Net Price Realization and Product Mix plans at the channel/key customer level.This includes partnering closely with Sales, Marketing, Finance and Regional Pricing councils (as necessary) to set annual mix targets, establish pricing corridors & promotion price guidelines, manage triple/quadruple net price performance and minimize cross border/parallel trade.
What are we looking for?
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Computer Science, Accounting or equivalent.
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in Commercial Strategy, Data Science and/or Financial Analysis within a CPG environment.
  • Experience partnering across the organization to analyze a range of internal & external data sources, drawing out key insights and forming recommendations on the basis of solid commercial knowledge and strong linkage to business strategy.
  • A track record of successfully translating strategies into action and delivering results; comfortable presenting to and engaging with Sr. Leaders or strategic forums simplifying complex Concepts and Strategies.
  • Proven functional/technical understanding and know-how across pricing specifically: Pricing Analysis (Critical) - direct experience in, monitoring & analyzing market pricing and internal brand pricing architectures. Scenario planning direct and indirect portfolio cost pricing changes and the levers that can be used to maximize profit and growth. Pricing Implementation (Preferred) - An understanding of the end to end steps required to deploy cost price changes within a market.
  • Astute commercial and financial skills with excellent organization agility, understanding the impacts of decisions on the P&L, with the ability to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Strong interpersonal and analytical skills and 'can-do' attitude with strong influencing & problem solving capabilities; ability to challenge the status quo and identify continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Able to effectively articulate and convey ideas and thoughts in a simple and effective manner. Not afraid to voice ideas or opinions within a peer group.

What will be your key responsibilities?

  • Contributes to the creation of market portfolio pricing strategy, development of annual pricing plans/recommended actions and overall management of the local market pricing practice. This includes leveraging MW Pricing Playbooks & partnering with (1) Marketing, HI, and Accounts for optimized brand pack-price architecture across key price tiers, thresholds and partitions to ensure pricing attractiveness and competitiveness against consumer penetration, transaction and trade-up goals; (2) Sales, Customer Marketing, Category Management & Account teams to unlock price point opportunities by channel for category/profit pool growth with customers, (3) Finance to deliver target MAC shape, (4) Marketing and R&D to capture Innovation price-value opportunities and enhance alignment to brand strategy and overall pack-price architecture goals.
  • Supports development of materials for Pricing Council, including integration and coordination of fact-based recommendations with cross-functional decision owners (as appropriate) including Marketing, Sales, and Finance for final sign-off by the Lead. Leads project management in executing any agreed upon actions.
  • Lead the execution, planning and management of agreed Pricing Strategy for the Brand/Portfolio by: (1) Partnering with Marketing & Customer Marketing to develop everyday pricing & product mix guidelines by cell for KA teams, (2) Coordinating the deployment of any list price increase, providing project management support to ensure agreed actions are executed on time and on budget. Includes managing any requested brand/customer exceptions through S&OP+.
  • Drive 'Mix for Growth', optimizing portfolio Product Mix plans by integrating consumer, customer/channel and financial performance in setting annual mix targets. This includes leveraging MWC Mix Playbooks and partnering with: (1) Marketing, Sales, Finance, Customer Marketing, HI and Category Management to develop product mix targets for Key Account teams. This includes ensuring fact-based marketplace performance (PQA) from Category Leaderships and financial impacts are considered (with a particular emphasis on Blockbuster SKU growth.) and (2) SRM Trade Architecture, Sales and Customer Marketing to ensure net pricing/trade incentive programs deliver desired customer and product mix. This includes ensuring net pricing plans are consistent with growing/maintaining NSV against our Blockbuster SKUs

The base pay range for this position at commencement of employment is between the range listed below, however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including but not limited to job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.The total compensation package for this position will include variable pay, medical and dental benefits, participation in 401k plan, and paid time off benefits.Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an applicant receives an offer of employment.
