Communication & Marketing Officer (Finance)



The primary purpose of this position is to provide content for the college's efforts to showcase student successes, faculty research, innovative programming, and its efforts related to the workforce and its future talent pipeline. Content would be used on the college's website, future newsletter, on social media and other channels, in efforts to secure earned/organic coverage, and more.

Opened in 2025 and powered by a University of South Florida record $40 million gift from Arnie and Lauren Bellini, USF's Bellini College of Artificial Intelligence, Cybersecurity and Computing is the first in Florida, and among the first in the nation, to unify AI, cybersecurity, and computing within a single college. More than 65 faculty members focus on cutting-edge research and educating 3,000+ bachelor's, master's, and doctoral students across 15 degree programs in computer science, cybersecurity, AI, information technology, and computer engineering. The college emphasizes industry-relevant education and experiential learning to prepare students for real-world challenges. It also serves as the central hub for AI and cybersecurity research and teaching at USF, collaborating with colleges and units across the university. Minimum Requirements

This position requires a bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, public relations, or similar fields and at least three years of related work experience in public relations, communications, or marketing roles. Appropriate graduate coursework may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.

Writing samples will be required to demonstrate the ability to write for audience (samples of web content, news releases, or feature stories preferred). Knowledge of current Web and Creative Cloud tools is required, as is proficiency in Microsoft Office programs. The ability to work collaboratively in a team environment is essential.

Preferred Requirements

Preferred Qualifications: At least three years of experience in higher ed and/or directly related industries is preferred. Strong demonstrated writing and editing skills, particularly for newsletters, website, news releases, and experience translating (sometimes technical) academic research into stories with mainstream appeal is also preferred.

5% - Photography: shoot photo and/or video content to accompany stories, for use on social media, and for general use.

15% - External Communications: Create an external newsletter for the college, determine the best tool to use to distribute it, and evaluate metrics. Target audiences include alumni, donors, industry leaders, current students, current employees, and people with an interest in the workforce development areas related to the college.

10% - Social Media Management: create and manage social media accounts for the college. Repurpose college-generated stories and identify/repurpose those created by others. Pull and evaluate metrics and use findings to inform efforts related to each platform.
