Night Shift - Mechanical QA/QC (Transportation)

NIGHT SHIFT

Responsiblities

Visually inspect (VT) all welds in the Field. This includes the prepping process, tacking, completed welding, verifying information on spools (weld numbers and labeling), and checking completed spools for correct fabrication to ISO.
Fill out weld maps with information pertaining to who welded it, dates, and inspector.
Cap and plug any open ends on spools before leaving the shop and verify before it is routed to site.
Generate NDE requests with weld information so PT or RT can be completed.
Walk Down Work Packages on installed lines and equipment creating punch list items for the install crew to change or revise
Verify and Document Torque on installed lines per the Work Package
Work Directly with ALL Crafts as needed

Additional Functions

Use of interpersonal skills to effectively communicate departmental requirements and objectives as well as communicate requirements across departments.
Ensure products meet and/or exceed standards and specifications.
Assist QA/QC personnel as needed.
Report results of inspections, both in written form or through use of computer (Microsoft Office Programs).
Works at a pace sufficient to obtain quality and quantity of inspection/testing, consistent with operational requirements.
Performs other tasks and duties as necessary.

Minimum Qualifications:

Strong background in reading blueprints and ISO's.
Ability to determine disposition, root cause, and corrective action in case of nonconforming product or other customer issues in order to ensure customer satisfaction and minimize recurring quality problems.
Understanding of welding concepts and liquid industrial coating applications.
Ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends as required to support the project requirements.
Operation of computers, Microsoft Office, and other applicable programs.

Education and Experience:

A minimum of 3 years of industrial construction or quality field experience.
Sufficient education, training, and experience to ensure qualification in inspection methods being used.

Requirements:

Arrive at work on time, as scheduled, consistently, reliably, & complete each shift.
Follow all safety rules and standards for the company and for the site.
Understand and follow instructions from the direct supervisor.

The job also requires the ability to raise or lower an object of approximately 5-50 pounds from one level to another, the ability to transport an object of up to 50 pounds a distance of up to 10 yards, usually holding it in the hands or arms, or on the shoulder, the ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, 20 pounds of force frequently and a negligible amount of force constantly so that an object moves away from the force, and/or the ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, 20 pounds of force frequently and a negligible amount of force constantly so that an object moves toward the force.
Must be capable of operating a standard 1/2-ton pick-up for occasional delivery and pick-up of materials and personnel and hold a valid, unrestricted motor vehicle operator's license issued by the state of residence, and the manual dexterity necessary to operate a standard desktop computer keyboard.
