Job Description:

The Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) Chair reports to the Associate Vice President for Scientific Affairs, and is responsible for the following activities pertaining to NAMSA's Minneapolis Lab IACUC:
• \tOversee the IACUC and ensure that reports, meetings, animal welfare concerns, and other administrative duties are appropriately addressed and conducted.
• \tLead the administrative, regulatory, and programmatic activities supporting NAMSA's animal research program.
• \tEstablish and maintain efficient and compliant operational systems that facilitate review of instructional and research activities involving animals.
• \tManage a quality improvement program to promote research and compliance with approved protocols.
• \tManage semi-annual facility inspections, collaborating with IACUC and other leaders to promote best practices for the animal care and use program.
• \tServe as an IACUC member, reviewing committee members and staff.
• \tMaintain AAALAC accreditation and oversee investigations of noncompliance and regulatory reporting.

Qualifications & Technical Competencies:

• A minimum of Bachelor's degree in a related discipline required.
• A minimum of 2 years relevant IACUC experience (or equivalent)

• Experience in a regulated environment is desired, specifically experience in medical device testing.
• Experience in conducting research involving animals.
• GLP/GMP experience preferred.
• Knowledge of PHS Policy and USDA regulations required.
• CPIA (Certification Examination for Professional IACUC Administrators) preferred.
• Fluency in English is preferred.
• Demonstrate knowledge of and experience with scientific applications, experimental design, metric system, technical writing skills, organizational and communication skills.
• Awareness of applicable guidelines and regulations, such as USDA, OLAW, FDA and others.
