KPFF Orange County:

We are accepting applications for our summer 2025 civil engineering internship program. The successful candidate(s) will be an integral part of our team and immersed in real-world challenges with opportunities to develop critical skills and grow your career. We are seeking candidates who are motivated and demonstrating openness to learning and thriving in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

We provide civil engineering services to both private and public sectors with projects in a vast market sector including Commercial, Retail, Mixed-Use, Hospitality, Multi-Family Housing, Parks & Recreational Facilities, Healthcare, K-12 Schools, Higher Education, Military, Transportation, and Public Agencies

The scope of our services may include site assessment, due diligence, master planning, entitlement, grading & drainage design, hydrology study, storm water quality design, utility improvements, street improvement plans, public utilities, and technical studies for environmental impact reports. Additionally, we provide project management and prime contract work

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the design, analysis, and implementation of civil engineering projects.
  • Collaborate with engineers and project teams to develop innovative solutions and address challenges.
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to brainstorming sessions with a positive and proactive attitude.
  • Support project documentation, including drafting reports, preparing presentations, and conducting research.
  • Engage in fieldwork, including site observation and data collection, ensuring adherence to safety standards.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Strong desire to be a civil engineer upon completion of their education.
  • Currently enrolled and pursuing Bachelor's or Master's degree in civil engineering at accredited university or college and have completed minimum 2 years of engineering coursework.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to function effectively in a teamwork environment.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word and capable of working with AutoCAD, Civil3D, and other engineering software.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong interests in civil engineering consulting services
  • Previous internship experience in the industry.
  • EIT or ability to obtain EIT certification.

Additional Information

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

  • Duties are typically performed in a normal office environment while sitting at a desk or computer table
  • Ability to actively engage with a computer for several hours per day and communicate over the telephone or virtual meeting platforms.
  • May occasionally need to lift items up to 15 lbs.
  • Work in the downtown Seattle office up to 5 days/week, with flexible work hours between 7 am and 5 pm

Compensation:

The salary for this role is competitive and will be determined based on the candidate's experience, education, and skills. The expected range for a qualified candidate is $27-$32 per hour.

Work Authorization: This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship or transfer. Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer-sponsored visa support now or in the future.
