Emergency Medical Technician, Days, Air Care & Mobile Care (Finance)
UC Health is hiring part-time transport EMT to join our Mobile Care team!
The Emergency Medical Technician will provide care for a diverse and multi-faceted patient population. They will work to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate the appropriate level of patient care according to the approved scope of practice.

Unit Details:
- Air Care & Mobile Care has provided the Greater Cincinnati area with specialized medical transport services for patients in our community for over 35 years.
- Air Care & Mobile Care is the only service in the region to be accredited in four levels of medical transport by the Commission on Accreditation of Medical Transport Systems.
- Air Care & Mobile Care specializes in caring for and transporting critically injured and sick patients, wherever they may be, by bringing the world-class care of UC Medical Center to the patient

Education & Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Current, active Ohio EMT certification required.
- One year of Emergency Medical Service experience as an EMT preferred
- Military medical/paramedicine experience considered.
- Intra-facility transport experience preferred.
- UC Health Emergency Medical Services Cohort experience considered
- Two years' experience driving an ambulance preferred
License & Certification:
- Current Ohio EMT-B certification required; National Registry preferred.
- Emergency Vehicle Operator Course (EVOC) or its equivalency must be obtained during the probation period.
- BLS (American Heart Association) at the time of hire.
- FEMA 100, 200 courses within the initial probationary period.
- Active, unrestricted Driver's License with no more than 4 accrued points.

Involves family/guardian in the assessment, initial treatment and continuing care of the patient.
Identifies any physical limitations of the patient and deploys intervention when necessary.

Interprets population related data and plans care appropriately.
Identifies and responds appropriately to different needs resulting from unique psychological needs or those associated with religious / cultural norms. Performs treatments, administers medication or operates equipment safely.
Recognizes and responds to signs/symptoms of abuse or neglect.
PATIENT CARE:
Provide high quality care to patients in the transport environment under the direction of the Program Medical Director and the referring and/or receiving Physician in accordance with policies, protocols and standards of care.
Autonomously evaluate patients of all age groups (infant, pediatric through adult), provide scope appropriate therapeutic intervention, emergency interventions, and preparation for an inter-facility transport.
Collaborate with other members of the team, including paramedic, coworkers, leadership, other healthcare partners and customers.
Assess for and detect changes in the status of patients and demonstrate a proactive approach to solving patient and family problems.
Plan, organize and position equipment and supplies for use in non-emergent and emergency conditions before, during and after transport.
Maintain complete and accurate records, complete all transport documentation by the communicated deadline, participate in quality assurance programs, perform data collection and participate in any special projects.
Maintain clinical proficiency across all aspects of the scope of practice including care of patients with neurological emergencies, cardiac emergencies, pediatric emergencies, obstetrical emergencies, traumatic emergencies, and any other patient populations outlined in the program mission.
Perform all physical requirements of job in confined spaces and under adverse environmental conditions.
Complete transports initiated with in the timeframe of the scheduled shift, understanding that completion of these transports might require extend beyond scheduled work hours.
Participation in all required didactic, clinical and lab education programs and maintenance of all required certifications and licenses.
Maintain clinical competency in scope of practice appropriate procedures and equipment, including airway management.
Able to assist in the Emergency Department of West Chester hospital if needed.
Participates in the hospital's Emergency Operations Plan during disaster situations
Emergency Department Environment:
Communicates with various departments in a cooperative manner
Performs quick registration of patients
Effectively communicates to patients and families
Ordering, stocking, and cleaning assigned area
Maintains specialty carts
Responsible for Point of Care quality assurance and tests
Safety:
Complete and maintain currency in all areas of safety education as required.
Demonstrate effective communication skills with all external and internal customers, including patients and their families, hospital staff, the community, other ambulance staff and administration.

Successfully demonstrates knowledge of safe emergency vehicle operations/emergency egress operations and other state and federal rules and regulations. Also demonstrate defensive driving techniques.
Responds to transports and other requests in a safe and timely manner.
Secures and handles equipment with appropriate devices to assure crew and patient safety in the transport environment.
When working in a vehicle co-pilot role, will be able to assist in navigation i.e. GPS input, adheres to department policy on lights and sirens response and monitors vehicle operator for fatigue/impairment.
Reports any safety concerns via appropriate department and health system reporting process in a timely manner
Demonstrates and promotes safe driving while operating UC Health vehicles (ambulances, staff car).
