As we continue to grow and innovate, we're looking for a talented Quality Engineer to join our dynamic team in our Salt Lake City, UT, manufacturing plant. In this role, you will have a significant impact on our operations by driving the standardization and implementation of best practices in quality engineering to ensure that our products meet the highest industry standards.

Main Purpose of the Role:

The Quality Engineer will collaborate closely with Engineering and Production teams to enhance the standardization of good manufacturing practices across our plant, ensuring the highest levels of product quality. You will play a key role in developing and maintaining quality systems, addressing quality issues, and driving continuous improvement initiatives that support cost-effective and efficient production.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) : Spearhead the development, maintenance, and control of FMEA plans to proactively identify potential risks and enhance product reliability.
• Calibration System Deployment : Oversee the deployment and management of calibration systems to ensure all measuring equipment is calibrated and maintained to precise standards.
• Modify Customer Specifications : Recommend modifications to customer part specifications and tolerances to ensure they align with cost-effective production capabilities and current technological advancements.
• Provide Engineering Support : Offer technical guidance to operations, ensuring the consistent application of quality techniques across the plant.
• Resolve Quality Issues : Identify and address quality issues related to capability, tolerances, and materials. Develop and implement action plans for effective resolution.
• Conduct Process Stability Studies : Evaluate when process stability and capability studies are needed on existing processes. Train and mentor plant quality leadership in conducting these studies and reviewing results.
• Measurement System Qualification : Participate in or lead the qualification of new measurement systems, ensuring they are suitable for new tool or process designs during startup.
• Promote Problem-Solving Techniques : Foster a culture of effective problem-solving and root cause analysis to resolve quality issues and implement corrective actions.
• Resolve Customer Complaints : Coordinate with cross-functional teams (Engineering, Maintenance, Production, etc.) to address and resolve customer complaints using 8D methodology.
• Apply Statistical Methods : Utilize statistical tools such as Measurement System Analysis, Cpk, and correlation to assess process performance and drive quality improvements.

Qualifications :

• Education & Experience :
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (preferred)
  • 3-5+ years of experience as a Quality Engineer or QC Technician in a manufacturing environment, with a proven track record in deploying quality engineering processes and managing Quality Management Systems (QMS).
  • Previous experience in a laboratory environment, particularly in industries such as automotive, plastic, or beverage manufacturing, is a plus.
• Skills & Expertise :
  • Strong problem-solving, troubleshooting, and analytical skills to resolve complex quality-related issues.
  • Proficient in using QA testing tools, equipment, and methodologies to ensure product conformity.
  • Deep understanding of engineering & quality principles, including process control, FMEA, APQP, SPC, Cause Analysis, MSA, PPAP, and other tools and methodologies.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, to explain technical concepts, follow procedures, and document actions.
  • Familiarity with Lean and Six Sigma methodologies is highly desirable. ISO 9001 certification is a plus.

Physical Requirements:

• • Ability to spend time in a manufacturing environment, including the plant floor or warehouse areas. This may involve standing, walking, and operating equipment like forklifts.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds as needed.
  • Comfortable working in variable weather conditions and in environments with significant noise levels.
  • Comfortable wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) while in production and warehouse areas.

What We Offer:

The compensation for this position will typically range from $78,000-$126,000/yr. The actual base pay offered to the successful candidate will be based on multiple factors, including but not limited to job-related knowledge/skills, experience, geographical location, and internal equity.

The compensation package may also include short and long-term incentive compensation.
