Medical Assistant - Surgical Oncology (Healthcare)
Attend required meetings and participate in a constructive manner.
Maintain patient confidentiality according to HIPAA rules and regulations.
Assist the physician, physician nurse, APRN, and Lead MA during clinic as needed.
Work with other physicians on non-clinic days as needed.
Complies w/MIPS entry requirements.
Print fee tickets for day of clinic.
Set up exam rooms prior to clinic.
Prepare patients for examination and/or procedures.
Room patients and enter updates during clinic as needed.
Stock exam and procedure rooms, and carts with necessary supplies, linens, and instruments
Complete weekly inventory and submit order to designated employee.
Complete data entry on non-clinic days as needed.
Assist with checking patients in and out as needed.
Prepares, sterilizes, and restocks instruments.
Assist with faxing information as needed.
Transfer bio-hazard waste to the 3rd floor on assigned day.
Complete training on autoclave & clean on assigned day.
Unpack and organize supplies on non-clinic days.
Perform assigned logs in a consistent and timely manner.
Must be proficient in basic computer skills and utilization of MS Office Suite
Participate in professional development activities and maintain professional affiliation.
Maintain patient confidentiality according to HIPAA rules and regulations.
If functioning as a Lead MA the following will also apply:
Review all patient records and input information into preload notes for new patients prior to clinic.
Must be able to act as a "scribe" as needed - only if hired as a scribe.
Assist with Visit Note completion, including prepping notes for clinic.
Enter provider orders into the EMR.
Complete referrals to other providers.
Assist with chart prep prior to each clinic, which includes obtaining lab results, scan reports, and other diagnostic testing.
Assist w/incoming calls & Canopy tickets.
Contact patients w/normal lab/NAPA reports.
