General Cardiology APRN or PA (Finance)



The Division of Cardiovascular Sciences and the Department of Internal Medicine at the University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine is seeking an Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant for a full-time position at the Instructor rank. Evaluation with diagnostic testing and history taking in the patient population with a suspected or confirmed cardiology diagnosis referred from Internal Medicine, Emergency physicians or other specialty. Communication with patient, family and referring provider regarding recommendations and findings based on current guidelines. Education regarding diagnosis, testing and results. Independently provides care to patients in cardiology clinic under general or indirect supervision. Manages medical problems; initiates, monitors and alters pharmacologic or lifestyle regimens.MINIMUM:

Master's or Medical degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate field of specialization or equivalent qualifications based on professional experience and otherwise qualified to perform assigned duties. Must meet university criteria for appointment to the rank of Instructor.

This position requires graduation from an accredited Advanced Practice Registered Nurse academic degree program and certification as outlined in Florida Statutes 464 and Florida Administrative Code, Chapter 64, or graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant academic degree program and certification as outlined in Florida Statutes 458 and 459 and Florida Administrative Code, Chapter 64. Preferred Certified Acute Care or Acute Care Adult Gerontologic Nurse Practitioner, or Physician Assistant. Candidates must be Board Certified/Board Eligible.

CLINICAL: Evaluation with diagnostic testing and history taking in the patient population with a suspected or confirmed cardiology diagnosis referred from Internal Medicine, Emergency physicians, or other specialties. Triages inpatient consults, and patient phone calls renew prescriptions, coordinates care, and assessed post-procedure problems.

Responsible to a Chair or other appropriate higher level administrator of a State university. Responsible for teaching, service, and related activities. May be responsible for research and/or academic advising and related activities. May represent the university, college/school, or department/unit on university and/or Statewide committees.
