Regulatory Associate (Finance)

The salary range posted represents the low and high end of OSI's salary range for this position. Salaries will vary based on various factors, including but not limited to, location, education, skills, experience and performance. Base salary is one component of OSI's overall total rewards package. Other components may include bonuses, special pay programs, comprehensive time off, 401k with match and a full suite of benefit offerings for you and your family.

This role is responsible for providing product information to customers. The Regulatory Associate must have a deep understanding of ingredients, formulas, products, and regulations from both FDA and USDA. This role will need to work with R&D, Quality Assurance, Processing Team, Packaging Engineer, and Operations to obtain the necessary information for customer inquiries.

Job Responsibilities

  • Job is an individual contributor and has no direct reports.
  • Generate technical data sheets that include ingredient statement, allergens, product formulation, nutritional (100grams), etc.
  • Verify product naming and standards of identity.
  • Create ingredient statements and labels for R&D.
  • Provide label approvals to the plant.
  • Input ingredients and formulas in Genesis.
  • Support customer portals, questionnaires, and general inquiries.
  • Onboard new products to SAP and Movex.
  • Assist in data gathering and entry as it relates to products or ingredients.
  • Develop policies and templates as it relates to technical data sheets, labels, customer portals.
  • Support in regulatory projects such as creating nutritional panels, submitting USDA applications, reviewing retail labeling and other things as needed.
  • This role has the responsibility to understand and place in practice appropriate safety procedures. This responsibility is achieved through education, training, use of protective equipment (as applicable) and by following safety policies, regulations, standards, and laws.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Experience & Skills

  • 1-3 years of experience in related field is preferred.
  • Excellent proficiency in all Microsoft Office Suite Products.
  • Experience in regulatory and nutrition with a USDA or FDA food manufacturer.
  • Knowledge of and experience using FDA and USDA food regulations, specifications, and ingredient databases.
  • Strong problem solving, organization, and time management skills.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both written and verbally.
  • Ability to handle complexity, multiple projects, and work under tight timelines.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with others to bring projects to completion.

Education

  • BA/BS or equivalent is preferred.

Work Environment

  • Work is generally performed within a business professional office environment, with standard office equipment available.
  • Work conditions are typical of an office & plant environment.
  • This role requires 10% domestic travel.
  • Position requires the physical agility to perform continuous lifting up to 15 pounds, bending, squatting, pushing, pulling, stretching/reaching, use hands or fingers, talk, hear, feel objects, tools, controls and standing/walking on concrete flooring.
  • Position requires the physical ability to stand/walk for the duration of work hours.
  • Will be exposed to the touch, feel, and taste of beef, poultry, turkey, dairy, fish, and the standard allergens (milk, egg, shellfish, tree nuts, peanuts, sesame, wheat, and soy) .
