Technical Writer (Finance)



Summary The Technical Writer develops, edits, and maintains high-quality technical documentation that supports manufacturing, engineering, and end-user needs. This role requires the ability to translate complex information into clear and concise content, develop templates and standards, and collaborate with subject matter experts across departments. The Technical Writer ensures documentation aligns with organizational standards and compliance requirements, contributing to overall operational efficiency and product understanding. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Research, outline, write, and edit user manuals, technical specifications, process instructions, and other documentation. Interpret technical drawings, engineering inputs, and system designs. Work cross-functionally with engineering, quality, and production teams to gather and verify information. Develop and maintain structured documentation repositories and templates. Ensure consistency and accuracy in all documentation formats and styles. Translate complex technical content into user-friendly materials. Evaluate existing content and suggest improvements in usability and structure. Support content development in alternative formats (e.g., visual aids, diagrams). Adhere to company documentation standards, legal requirements, and industry best practices. Use Microsoft Office, Epicor, and other relevant platforms to manage and publish content. Uphold Positronic's standards of integrity, quality, and operational excellence. Identify hazards in the workplace and report them to management and/or the safety coordinator. Collaborate with the EHS department to meet local, state, and federal regulatory requirements, including OSHA, NFPA, DNR, EPA, and Amphenol sustainability practices. Work with the Quality department to ensure compliance with AS9100 certification standards. Comply with all company policies and procedures. Perform other duties as assigned. Requirements Education and Experience High school diploma required, with AP or college-level STEM coursework preferred. 2+ years of experience in a technical writing or support role. Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered. Physical Long periods of sitting and computer use with occasional standing or walking. May lift or move objects up to 25 lbs., such as laptops, binders, or documentation tools. Occasional reaching, bending, or carrying to access equipment or records. Frequent use of hands for typing, reviewing hardcopy materials, and interacting with tools. Working Conditions Work is primarily performed in an office setting with standard climate control. May occasionally access manufacturing areas for document review or collaboration, with minor exposure to noise or production equipment. PPE may be required when entering design. Competencies Knowledge Technical writing practices, documentation standards, and content lifecycle. MS Office tools, ERP systems, and document management platforms. Engineering and manufacturing terminology, specifications, and quality standards. Skills Technical content development and formatting. Written communication, grammar, and editing proficiency. Collaboration with technical experts and production teams. Time management and project tracking. Abilities Translate technical concepts into clear, audience-appropriate documentation. Maintain consistency in tone and structure across diverse documentation sets. Apply formatting, layout, and visual structure to enhance document usability. Perceive and respond to verbal and written feedback with clarity and professionalism.
