Summary:
The Facility Attendant is a part-time, hourly position working primarily at The Gardens on Spring Creek-potentially with occasional assignments at other Arts & Culture venues, The Lincoln Center (LC), and Center for Creativity (CC). This position performs a variety of tasks in both indoor and outdoor areas such as custodial/janitorial tasks, event setup/breakdown, and grounds maintenance including snow and ice removal. This is a frontline staff position and requires interaction with customers.

This position will be scheduled to work early morning, weekday, weekend, and evening shifts regularly. This position will typically be scheduled 16-29 hours per week based on candidate availability. Hours and location may fluctuate based on event bookings, seasonal site needs, and overall event staffing considerations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Set up and strikes event equipment throughout the facilities (tables, chairs, audio-visual equipment, linens, etc.). LC and CC events are primarily indoors, GOSC events are primarily outdoors.

- Maintain external grounds and pathways including leaf blowing, raking, sweeping, debris removal, pathway area weeding, emptying waste and recycling, wiping surfaces, snow/ice removal, and similar duties.

- Clean all surfaces within the facilities (toilets, floors, furniture, hallways, lobbies, restrooms, theatres, dressing room, etc.) both on a regular basis and before/after events and performances.

- During events, monitor event areas and maintain tidiness for patrons as needed, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, attending to trash/recycle and restrooms, wiping down surfaces and similar custodial and janitorial duties.

- Collect and properly disposes of waste, recycling, and compost materials.

- Assist with setup and tear down of external holiday lighting and décor at GOSC, including troubleshooting electrical and lighting app technology.

- Perform basic maintenance, repair, inventory, and troubleshooting of chairs, tables, sign frames, and other event equipment or supplies, including surface repairs throughout the facility and/or submitting Work Requests for significant/unresolvable damages.

- Communicate availability up to 30 days in advance.

- Perform work without direct supervision in a fast-paced environment with ability to identify & prioritize daily duties and unexpected challenges.

- Function both independently and as a member of a team, working collaboratively with coworkers to execute maintenance and setup duties.

- Monitor kitchen safety and safe food handling when caterers are present.

Supervisory Responsibilities: This position is not responsible for the supervision of employees.

Qualifications: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and abilities required to perform the necessary functions of this position.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Work non-business, variable hours based on facility needs. Shifts may vary from 5am-2am on any given day. Shift lengths may vary from 2 hours to 8 hours on any given day.

- Physically able to perform custodial and events set up tasks.

- Take initiative, complete assigned tasks, work through conflict and arrive at a resolution, and problem solve under time constraints.

- Work without direct supervision, in a fast paced, everchanging environment.

- Use checklists, maps, and computer programs to access all information and document completion of tasks.

- Operate a variety of cleaning, event, and audio-visual equipment including, but not limited to, table and chair cart/dolly, wagons and carts, kitchen equipment, vacuums, leaf and snow blower, upholstery cleaner, floor/carpet equipment, hammer, screwdrivers, ladders, paint equipment and various hand tools, standard office equipment including copiers, and motor vehicles.

- Handle sensitive or stressful situations with tact, good judgement, and diplomacy.

- Establish and maintain effective working relationship with co-workers, patrons, and the public.

- Work with and provide direction to volunteers.

Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred.

- Must be proficient in English with the ability to read, speak, understand, and write.

- One year event setup, custodial, janitorial, housekeeping, kitchen experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience, required.

Certificates and Licenses:

- Preferred CPR/First Aid/AED Certification

- Preferred Food Safety & Handling Certification

Physical Demands:
- Walk long distances both indoors (including within multi-level buildings) and outdoors.

- Frequently bend, twist, kneel, stoop, reach, pull and push which may require work on the floor or in tight spaces.

- Perform physical/labor intensive work including movement for up to 8 hours at a time.

- Regularly lift and push/pull up to 65 lbs., and occasionally push/pull up to 100 lbs. including pushing wheeled items up to 150 lbs.

- Operate cleaning equipment and tools manually.

- Climb or balance on ladders at a height of up to 20ft.

- Make continuous or repetitive arm-hand movements including tasks requiring a full range of motion to reach up and out.

- Communicate effectively enough to interpret work schedules and job duties to supervisor, and convey information to supervisor, coworkers, and the public.

- Work in a stationary position while sitting or standing.

- Visually distinguish between items on written & electronic means of communication, including maps, signs, chemical labels, and safety data sheets.

Work Environment:
Work is performed in one of three locations owned and operated by The City of Fort Collins: The Lincoln Center (LC), The Gardens on Spring Creek (GOSC), and the Center for Creativity (CC). LC and CC are multi-use performing arts and conference facilities, and GOSC is a botanical garden with conference spaces and an outdoor performing arts pavilion. Specific location may fluctuate based on event bookings, seasonal site needs, and overall event staffing considerations.

- Employee will be asked to work variable hours including early morning, afternoon, evening, and late-night shifts both during the week, weekends, and some holidays.

- Shifts may frequently be outdoors in all seasons and weather conditions which may include rain, snow, and extreme hot and cold temperatures.

- Employees will work alone or as an unsupervised team.

- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to fumes, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals.

- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
