Reports to: Technical Material Engineering Manager

Location: Goleta, CA - Hybrid

The Role

The Material Developer II - Ahnu is an inquisitive, motivated, collaborative solutions-oriented materials professional with experience preferably in athletic and/or outdoor footwear. The Material Developer II - Ahnu will be a key member of the product creation team sharing insights, suggestions, and information to identify and develop quality materials focused on delivering to product expectations. A strong candidate for this position will approach the work collaboratively and with a curiosity as to how we can make good products and processes better, bring an understanding of manufacturing and process to the team, is able to suggest materials/constructions from product briefs with designs, and demonstrates Deckers values.

Your Impact

The primary functions of this role, include but are not limited to:

Manage material development work and timelines that deliver on consumer benefit while meeting design intent and physical property standards associated with intended end use. Work to include seasonal focus with some work on longer innovation timeline materials. Align to material development sourcing strategy to brand vision that maximizes construction use and manufacturing efficiencies while delivering on cost, quality, and delivery for development and production.

We'd love to hear from people with

• Bachelors' degree in Textile Science/Development, Textile Engineering, or related field preferred
• 5+ years relevant work experience which may include footwear product creation or material development, engineering or science.
• Experience working with global supplier partners as well product teams including design development, materials, and other manufacturing teams.

$85,000 - $90,000

The salary range posted reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for this role in our Goleta, CA location. Individual pay will be determined by location and additional factors, including job related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
