International Admissions & Recruitment Counselor (Finance)

Description:

The International Admissions and Recruitment Counselor guides and counsels prospective international students regarding international admissions requirements. Assists in admissions processing for all international students including record maintenance, transcript evaluations, and correspondence. Serves as Designated School Official (DSO) to issue initial Form I-20s for admitted F-1 international students. Assists the International Outreach Manager with recruitment initiatives including applicant outreach via Slate, local recruitment travel, and several online outreach initiatives.

Duties:
  • Provides admissions services including application entry, official transcript evaluation, record maintenance, and documentation. Evaluates undergraduate and graduate applications received from prospective international students to determine preliminary admissions criteria.
  • Advises and counsels prospective international students concerning admission criteria of the university. Reviews applicant lists to determine missing materials and provides outreach to applicants to support application completion. Serves as Designated School Official (DSO) to issue initial I-20s through the TerraDotta system.
  • Participates in outreach events designed to attract international students and assists in the development of the events, both in-person and virtually. May travel locally to support international recruitment initiatives from high schools and community colleges.
  • Interacts with students and their families regarding the transition to the United States and performs related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
  1. Bachelor's degree.
  2. Two years of experience working in admissions, recruitment or advising related roles in higher education.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in International Education, Higher Education Administration, or related disciplines.
  • Experience working with international student admissions, immigration compliance.
  • Experience working with people from various cultures.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Understanding of university policies regarding admissions and enrollment.
  • Knowledge of transcript evaluation and how to review international documents.
  • Understanding of higher education recruitment concepts as related to international students.
  • Skills in Microsoft Office, specifically Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Knowledge of PeopleSoft, Slate, TerraDotta, and SEVIS.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work as well as to work under strict deadlines.
  • Ability to communicate professionally and effectively with students, faculty and staff, as well as external constituents.
  • Ability to problem solve and provide solutions to applicants, colleagues and other constituents.
