Sr R&D Systems Engineer – Hardware (Finance)

As a Sr Advanced R&D Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for providing technical expertise on a variety of projects and programs for exciting new technologies in the field of Alternative Position, Navigation, and Timing Systems. You will use your expert knowledge of systems design, integration, and architecture development to support breakthrough product development. You will serve as the focal point for systems architecture development and integration with a multidisciplinary team of engineers and scientists. You will also support new business opportunities and pursuits with an integrated sales, business, and technical team.

MINNESOTA SALARY RANGE ONLY:
The annual base salary or/ hourly pay range for this position is $122,000 to $153,000. Please note that this salary information serves as a general guideline. Honeywell considers various factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate's work experience, education and training, key skills, as well as market and business considerations.

Due to compliance with U.S. export control laws and regulations, candidate must be a U.S. citizen, U.S. permanent resident, or have asylum or refugee status in the U.S.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Lead end-to-end systems engineering activities for new product design and development, from concept through validation and deployment
• Define and manage system-level requirements, interfaces, and architecture in collaboration with cross-functional engineering teams (hardware, software, mechanical)
• Support aircraft systems integration, ensuring seamless interaction between alternative PNT systems and existing avionics, sensors, and communication systems
• Develop and refine system design processes, including requirements traceability, model-based systems engineering (MBSE), and use of digital engineering tools
• Create and maintain technical documentation, including system architecture diagrams, interface control documents (ICDs), requirement specifications, and verification matrices
• Lead and support the development of Minimum Operating Standards (MOS) for new PNT technologies and contribute to industry working groups and standards bodies
• Plan and execute system verification and validation efforts, including test strategy development, hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing, simulation, and field testing
• Prepare and deliver technical reports, white papers, and presentations to internal stakeholders, customers, and regulatory authorities
• Act as the technical liaison with customers, providing engineering insight and addressing system-level design considerations during reviews and project meetings
• Coordinate technical efforts among interdisciplinary teams including systems, software, electrical, and mechanical engineering, ensuring schedule and design alignment
• Support proposal development and technical input for business development activities, including ROM estimates, technical volume writing, and risk identificationYOU MUST HAVE:
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as the sciences, technology, engineering or mathematics
• 5+ years of experience working in systems design in an aerospace R&D environment or similar field

WE VALUE:
• Master's Degree in Engineering (preferably in Electrical, Aerospace, or Systems Engineering) or a related field
• In-depth knowledge of avionics systems, including flight control systems, navigation systems, communication systems, and electrical systems
• Knowledge of Inertial, GPS, or Alternative PNT sensors
• Familiarity with avionics hardware and software development processes, including design, development, verification, and validation
• Experience with Digital Engineering Concepts, MBSE, Digital Twin, Digital Thread
• Knowledge of avionics communication protocols and standards (e.g., ARINC 429, MIL-STD-1553, Ethernet, CAN bus)
• Experience with system-level testing and verification techniques, including test plan development, test execution, and test report generation
• Understanding of configuration management principles and tools for maintaining traceability and controlling changes in avionics systems
• Experience driving safety and certification activities for airborne systems, including FHA, PSSA, and compliance documentation under FAA regulations (14 CFR Part 23/25), DO-178C, and ARP4761/4754A or under MIL-STD-882E and MIL-HDBK-516C, including coordination of SSPPs and ASMs.
