Academic Advisor I (Finance)



College of Business academic advisor advises students concerning their academic plans and progress, academic schedule, choice of major, and other academic activities and career goals, to assist the student in making decisions concerning personal educational goals leading to graduation.MINIMUM:

This position requires a Bachelor's degree in Education, Counseling or academic field directly related to the Advisor's specific responsibilities with a minimum of two years of progressively responsible experience in advising or related academic functions within higher education. Work experience may not be substituted for the Bachelor's degree requirement for this position.

PREFERRED:

Master's or bachelor's degree in Business Administration or a minimum of three years academic advising experience in higher education. Experience using Banner and Degree Works student record systems.

This position may be subject to a Level 1 or Level 2 criminal background check.

Grow Here .Provide timely and accurate information to advise students regarding academic program requirements, degree progression, academic policies and procedures, co-curricular activities, career planning, and campus resources. Deliver advising through scheduled appointments, walk-ins, group sessions, orientations, and class presentations. Communicate effectively with students in both oral and written format, including electronic mediums and presentations. Foster an open environment for understanding and working with diverse student populations. Maintain advising records and confidential student evaluation records. Perform analytical problem solving using a variety of data sources to resolve issues in student records. Utilize USF information systems to support delivery of advising services, to include building graduation plans in student auditing system, monitoring student progression, and student success efforts as defined by the college and/or University. Collaborates with other units and refers students when appropriate.

Conducts on-boarding for incoming business students at USF Orientation. Performs orientation/advising sessions for small and/or large groups to analyze progress toward completion of academic work at the University. Ensures that students are properly informed regarding specific requirements to be fully admitted to the Muma College of Business due to entrance requirements. Communicates administrative and all degree requirements of Muma College of Business and the University.

Serves on appropriate department, college and/or campus advisory committees, and participates in professional development enhancing core competency in order to provide excellent service and promote student success. Perform related duties as required or deemed necessary to meet the Academic Advising goals within the Advisor's scope of responsibility.
