HR/Safety Generalist (Human Resources)
Position Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Serve as a liaison between management and hourly staff by handling Human Resource/Safety related questions and helping to resolve personnel inquiries and requests promptly. Communicates and interprets HR/Safety policies, procedures and practices while promoting a positive employee relations, open communication and sense of cooperation with team spirit.
Verifies, processes and maintains human resource records related to employment to include hiring, termination, leaves, transfers, training or promotions, using human resources management system (HRIS) and other required systems. Schedules and coordinates pre-employment drug screens and physicals, runs MVRs and maintains DOT including random drug screens.Prepares new hire packets, schedules and conducts new employee orientations (Waverly and Omaha). Works with payroll, management and employees to ensure accuracy and completeness of all employee records. Administrator for the companys benefits (medical, dental, Vision, LTD & ADD, 401(k) and Life Insurance) by completing new enrollments or changes to employees benefits through provider portals and HRIS system. Maintains employee personnel files and other record keeping relating to employees current and former. Performs system and file audits ensuring data accuracy and compliance with appropriate governing laws and regulations. Participates in the completion of First Report of Injury for Work Comp claims, files with carrier, communicates to necessary parties, and monitors lost-time injuries/illnesses and workers compensation claims. Assists with Return-to-Work Program that includes modified duties and documentation process.Maintain open and proactive communication with injured worker(s) and WC insurance reps, handling claims in a positive and proactive manner to ensure a prompt resolution and prevent litigation. Contributes to the completion of OSHA 300/300A logs and other legally mandated reports. Assists in the development and implementation of policies and procedures, recommends new approaches to continually improve the department. Prepares and distributes written and verbal communications to inform employees of benefits, compensation, policies, and other human resource/safety initiatives. Assist in preparing information for monthly company newsletter.Participates in the management and resolution of general employee relations issues. May assist with conducting effective and thorough investigations and interviews to gather facts and make recommendations.Assists with a variety of HR/Safety projects and initiatives. Provides backup and support to all members of the HR team by performing other duties and responsibilities that are required and assigned.
Education/Experience
Bachelors degree in human resources or related field or related experience of 2-5 years of HR. Working with both HR and Safety in a manufacturing environment preferred.
Knowledge of federal and state laws and legislation affecting employment, benefits, etc. (FLSA, EEOC, OSHA, ADA, FMLA, etc.) required.
Knowledge of OSHA and related regulations and experience in Workers Compensation case management preferred.
Proficient with MS Office Suite and experience with Applicant Tracking Systems and HRIS- UKG and bilingual (Spanish) is a plus.
Other Requirements
Travel between Waverly/Omaha and Omaha/Waverly locations as business needs dictate.
Maintenance of regular attendance
Willing to obtain other HR/Safety certifications and participate in HR associations deemed necessary in performance of responsibilities and continuing education.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
Regular office conditions apply. Employee must have clear, close vision for reading and computer work. Must be able to sit, stand, walk, balance, stoop, grasp, talk, hear and operate computer keyboard. Job may require reaching at or above shoulder level and below waist. Will occasionally lift/push/pull up to 50 pounds.
