  • Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Engineering, Quality Management, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience as an Engineer or quality-focused SPC role.

Born from many well-known and long-standing brands, Howmet Fastening Systems, headquartered in Torrance, California, is the premier designer and manufacturer of aerospace and industrial fasteners, latches, fluid fittings and installation tools. Our products are used nose to tail on commercial and military aircraft, as well as on jet engines, industrial gas turbines, automobiles, commercial transportation vehicles, wind turbines, solar power systems, and construction and industrial equipment.

Howmet Fastening Systems (HFS) is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Statistical Process Control (SPC) Specialist at our Torrance, CA location to lead the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of SPC systems across our manufacturing and quality operations. This position plays a critical role in driving data-driven decision-making, reducing variability, and ensuring consistent product and process quality in alignment with organizational and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and implementation of SPC programs and methodologies across production and quality systems.
  • Analyze process data using statistical tools to identify trends, root causes, and areas for improvement.
  • Design control charts and monitoring systems for critical process parameters and product characteristics.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (engineering, production, quality) to optimize process stability and capability.
  • Train and mentor staff on SPC techniques, data collection methods, and interpretation of statistical results.
  • Support internal audits, regulatory inspections, and customer requirements related to process control and quality assurance.
  • Develop standard work instructions, procedures, and documentation related to SPC processes.
  • Monitor and report on process performance metrics, including Cp, Cpk, Pp, Ppk, and other key indices.
  • Recommend and lead continuous improvement initiatives based on SPC data analysis.
  • Utilize software tools such as Minitab, Prolink, or other advanced analytics platforms.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or requested

Skills:
  • Advanced proficiency in statistical analysis and SPC tools (e.g., Minitab, Prolink, Excel-based tools).
  • Strong understanding of Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, and ISO/QMS standards.
  • Demonstrated success in process capability analysis, control charting, and root cause analysis.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • ASQ certifications such as Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or Certified Six Sigma Black Belt (CSSBB) are a plus.
