Network Engineer Specialist (Analytics and Observability Solutions) (Finance)



The Network Engineer Specialist (Analytics and Observability Solutions) serves as the subject matter expert for all corporate, data center, and cloud based networks. This role focuses on designing, implementing, and managing network analytics and observability solutions to ensure optimal network performance, reliability, and security. The engineer will leverage various tools and technologies to monitor, analyze, and troubleshoot complex network environments.

It is a crucial role in modern technology organizations, bridging the gap between the enterprise business units and technology.

In this role, you will utilize and perform the following activities:

Solution Design and Implementation:

  • Design and implement end-to-end network analytics and observability solutions.
  • Select and integrate standardized monitoring and analytics tools.
  • Develop dashboards and reports for network performance visualization.

Network Monitoring and Analysis:
  • Monitor network performance metrics and identify anomalies.
  • Analyze network traffic patterns and identify potential bottlenecks.
  • Troubleshoot network issues using data analysis and visualization tools.

Tool Management and Automation:
  • Manage and maintain network monitoring and analytics platforms.
  • Automate data collection, analysis, and reporting processes.
  • Develop scripts and tools to enhance network observability capabilities.
  • Create a self-service portal for network observation and key network provisioning needs.

Collaboration and Reporting:
  • Collaborate with network engineering, operations teams, and stakeholders.
  • Create network performance and observability metrics on demand for users of our system.
  • Document best practices to be followed as a standard for SDLC and Observability.

Additionally:
  • This position does not offer immigration sponsorship (current or future) including F-1 STEM OPT extension support.
  • This position can be based in Alpharetta, GA. This resource should be local to Atlanta and will be required to work from our Alpharetta location.
  • Corporate Return To Office expectations: Onsite weekly requirements each Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday each week.
  • Required to participate in 24x7x365 on-call rotation for Tier 3 escalations with additional onsite responsibilities as needed.

What you will do
  • Subject matter expert responsible for the co-design and build of all strategic network platforms within Equifax, which are expected to provide competitive advantage to our portfolio of businesses globally.
  • Work in a multi-vendor environment managing multiple projects simultaneously and delivering against deadlines.
  • Participate in global team environments, solving problems around the world.
  • Maintain and create useful, accessible, network documentation that can be shared with internal users, other teams, and auditors.
  • Track and monitor network performance and throughput in ongoing effort to right size primary and secondary network links (LAN, WAN, and WLAN).
  • Continue to drive existing and establish new company wide standards across remote sites and data centers.
  • Ensure disaster recovery and business continuity environments are compliant, available, and easily accessible.
  • Enable the business while maintaining a strong security posture within the network best practices framework.
  • Manage vendor relationships and proof of concept engagements.
  • Experience with the creation and maintenance of DNS records, DNS zones, & DNSSEC.
  • Perform as the lead technical authority for these technologies within Equifax, and is responsible for ensuring that our business continually benefits from industry innovations in the network.
  • Participate in 24x7x365 on-call rotation for Tier 3 escalations.

What experience you need
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred but will consider candidates with related certifications and/or aligned job experience.
  • 7+ years of enterprise and data center network engineering experience.
  • 2+ years of network monitoring/observability including creating dashboards with network tools - Solarwinds and Google Monitoring Dashboards using Looker Studio.
  • 1-2 years of experience working with Google Cloud Platform Network Components.
  • Scripting and Automation: Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash) to automate tasks and build tools.
  • Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Strong experience with tools like Terraform, Ansible using Gitflow or Bitbucket.
  • Demonstrated expertise in Routing/Switching and Firewalling across various vendors.
  • Experience working in a multi-vendor environment with hands-on experience with networking hardware.
  • Ability to interpret network traces and utilize TCPDUMP to troubleshoot and resolve network issues.
  • Ability to participate in 24x7x365 on-call rotation as Tier 3 escalations.

  • Ability to drive to resolution on network issues (real or perceived) by proactively engaging other groups or resources to provide updates, information, next steps, etc.
