Research Analyst - remote (PA/NJ/DE) (Information Technology)

Do you want to grow into a leader at Independence and help make healthcare more equitable for our members?  The Director of Reporting & Analytics within the Informatics department is looking for a Research Analyst to help support and guide our health equity initiatives.  This position will allow the associate to grow into a subject matter expert in activities relating to investigating and dismantling health care inequities affecting the delivery of medical care and services to our members.

Informatics is hiring a Research Analyst with the following primary responsibilities:

  • Support data quality efforts for race, ethnicity, language, and social determinants of health data to establish guidelines for consistent and appropriate data use across the organization
  • Help expand a social determinants of health tool used in health equity analyses
  • Build data sets to describe patient-provider encounters for health equity analyses
  • Effectively communicate and collaborate with internal and external partners to meet business needs including our government affairs department, customer teams, academic collaborators, and health care institutions.
  • Support the interpretation, summarization, and presentation of analytic results in a clear, concise manner for internal clients through clean and direct data visualizations
  • Perform and summarize web-based health research to inform health equity analyses

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in health care, public health, statistics or related quantitative area, and 2 years of experience or equivalent in an analytical or public health environment
  • Familiarity or professional interest in public health concepts (ex. social determinants of health, community-based participatory research, harm reduction, health equity, public health, etc.)
  • Demonstrated SQL and/or R programming skills with experience pulling, cleaning, and summarizing data
  • Self-motivated with the desire to grow interpersonal and verbal communication skills, and build project management and problem-solving skills

Hybrid

Independence has implemented a “Hybrid” model which consists of Associates working in the office 3 days a week (Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday) and remotely 2 days a week (Monday & Friday). This role is designated as a role that fits into the “Hybrid” model. While associates may work remotely on our designated remote days, the work must be performed in the Tri-State Area of Delaware, New Jersey or Pennsylvania.
