Responsibilities: Assist the Outpatient Specialty Services Manager &/or Director of Outpatient Physician Services in the operation & maintenance of the Outpatient Specialty Services department.Provides direct patient care within the ambulatory setting, based on the nursing process and within role/scope of practice.Demonstrates professionalism by practicing, maintaining, and increasing knowledge of nursing and healthcare trends through evidenced based practice.Accepts accountability and uses independent nursing judgment for care provided by self and by healthcare providers to who care delegated.Performs & records assessment of patients through observation, obtainment of vital signs & chart review to facilitate appropriate care with the healthcare team.Demonstrates ability to continually assess and anticipate changes in patients condition and make appropriate decisions accordingly.Communicates pertinent patient and unit information to physician, Outpatient Specialty Services Manager, Director of Outpatient Physician Services and other appropriate persons while maintaining client confidentiality.Assists physician with variety of procedures, exams and/or operations of diagnostic equipment as assigned.Coordinates patient care delivery to promote the continuum of care- placing orders, referrals, lab results, radiology reports, etc.Delivers medication injections and infusions as per policy and scope of practice.Demonstrates ability to access & care for peripheral IVs, central lines, PICC lines, and Port-A-Caths.Demonstrates ability to provide wound care, catheter care & therapeutic phlebotomy.Administers blood products as per policy and scope of practice.Provides detailed education, discharge instructions, follow up appointments, etc.Documents accurately in a thorough, concise, and timely manner.Cleans patient rooms, procedure rooms, equipment & instruments according to hospital policies.Follows the cleaning, disinfecting, sterilization, storage & maintenance of endoscopes according to established hospital policies and procedures as assigned.Assists in the development and implementation of department quality checks & improvement activities.Accepts assignments willingly and is flexible when changes occur.Completes required annual competencies.Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned. Position Requirements: Must maintain a current licensure as a registered nurse by the State of MissouriMaintain Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) issued by the American Heart Association or a preapproved provider if caring for patients during invasive treatment/recovery- GI procedure, Pain procedure, Stress Test.2+ years of previous experience in a procedure setting preferred- GI, Pain, Cardiology, Injections/Infusions.
