Fixed Income Trading Assistant/Junior Trader - Cigna Investment Management - Hybrid (Finance)



Cigna Investment Management (CIM) manages over $35 billion in assets on behalf of Cigna, a publicly traded global health services company. CIM's assets are invested in public bonds, private placement securities, commercial mortgages, real estate equity, mezzanine debt, private equity, equity securities, warrants, commercial paper, certificates of deposit, municipal securities, mutual fund shares, United States government securities, options contracts on securities, futures contracts on intangibles, money market funds, derivatives, structured notes, and exchange traded funds.

The Fixed Income - Trading Assistant/Junior Trader, under the direction of their manager, serves as critical support to the senior trading staff for Money Market, Corporate, Municipal, FX, Derivatives and Public Structured Securities. This role ensures smooth trade entry, operational accuracy, and effective desk management.

Major Functions:

  • Provides support for all trades on the trading desk from time of execution to actual delivery. Enter and verify trade details from execution to delivery, reconciling discrepancies and maintaining precise records.
  • Generate and maintain reports that monitor overall asset class exposures and sensitivities using technical investment tools such as COMET, DIVER, CIM IQ, Bloomberg, etc.
  • Provide operational and analytical support for traders, including back-up responsibility for junior Money Market Trader.
  • Responsible for desk operations including procedures, distributions, volumes and external services.
  • Interface with "the street" in such a manner as to maintain the professional image of Cigna Investment Management.
  • Contribute to special projects and initiatives as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree in finance or accounting.
  • Investment experience or relevant business experience.
  • CFA designation track will be required.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and investment related applications (Diver, Bloomberg etc.).
  • Ability to automate workflow.
  • Strong quantitative background.
  • Derivatives knowledge/experience a plus

This position supports Cigna Investments, Inc., an investment adviser registered with the United States Securities and Exchange Commission ("SEC"). The successful candidate will become an Access Person of CII required to comply with the personal trading requirements and restrictions contained in CII's Code of Ethics. These requirements and restrictions apply to the Access Person and all securities transactions in accounts in which an Access Person has a Beneficial Interest.

If you will be working at home occasionally or permanently, the internet connection must be obtained through a cable broadband or fiber optic internet service provider with speeds of at least 10Mbps download/5Mbps upload.
