Position: Quality Control Technician

Reports to: Quality Supervisor

Shift: Rolling shift

Pay: $20/hr

What you'll be contributing:

  • To comply with all company safety and environmental requirements in the performance of the job.
  • To follow housekeeping standards and 5S in the designated areas and in the laboratory
  • To collect and perform chemical and physical tests of raw materials, process materials, and finished product for quality control and quality assurance.
  • To build and maintain working relationships between plant departments and peer groups.
  • To maintain daily, monthly records and communicate results of tests to relevant personnel.
  • To make corrections according to SPC tools in manufacturing process.
  • To calibrate, test and maintain manually operated and computer controlled equipment, spectrometers, and other equipment used in the laboratory.
  • To maintain all required test records and ensure all results are accurate according to procedure, AASHTO, ASTM, ISO standards and completed within required deadlines.
  • To work effectively as a team member in the areas of safety, environment and timely communications with other departments to help meet the goals of the Quality Control Department and the plant.
  • To serve as a role model in the areas of leadership, teamwork, customer focus, safety and environmental stewardship to ensure alignment with the company's vision and critical success factors.
  • Additional duties as assigned by supervisor

To succeed in this position, you will need:

  • High school graduation or equivalent is required
  • Associates degree in a related field is preferred
  • 2 year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education, skills, abilities, and experience
  • Ability to read, write and understand warning labels, instructions, signs, etc. Willingness to learn, training will be provided
  • Ability to perform the essential duties and responsibilities and must meet qualifications required for this position
  • Ablility to work shift

What to expect in a cement environment:

Work to be performed in a shop environment as well as outdoor exposure throughout the plant. Mild exposure to cement dust, heat, cold, and noise requires compliance with specified safety guidelines and procedures. Exposure to high elevations of up to 250 feet in height. Exposure to all weather conditions. Normal operation of mobile equipment may result in jarring and vibratory exposure.
