Production Planner / Scheduler

Summary
The Planner is responsible for effectively developing and managing production schedules to meet production targets and customer needs. This position requires working closely with production teams, procurement, and other departments, facilitating the efficient production of goods, optimizing resource use, reducing costs, and ensuring prompt delivery. Duties include scheduling production, managing inventory, optimizing production processes, reporting performance, and collaborating with different departments. This position will report to the Materials Manager. This position is located in Waterloo, Iowa.

Essential Functions

Develop, maintain, and adjust production schedules based on customer orders, production capacity, and inventory levels. Ensure all production targets are met within the agreed-upon timelines. Monitor production progress and resolve issues that arise to avoid delays.Ensure all necessary materials and components are available for production. Manage and track inventory levels to avoid overstocking or stockouts. Ensure raw materials are ordered on time to prevent production downtime.Analyze production capacity and identify potential bottlenecks or constraints. Recommend solutions to optimize production processes and resource utilization and improve efficiency.Assist in the planning and execution of new projects and product launches.Work closely with Purchasing, Production, and Quality Assurance to ensure alignment on production priorities and timelines. Communicate all changes in the production schedule to relevant stakeholders.Monitor and analyze production performance data, identifying trends, inefficiencies, and areas for improvement. Prepare reports on production metrics, such as cycle time, lead time, efficiency rates, and performance status. Use production data to inform future planning decisions and improve overall operations.Identify potential issues in the production process or supply chain disruptions and propose solutions to minimize impact. Collaborate with maintenance teams to schedule packaging line improvements and preventive maintenance, ensuring equipment is properly maintained and operational.Maintain accurate records of production plans, schedules, and progress. Ensure materials are stocked and available when needed.Work with customers to discuss timelines and maintain satisfaction.Participate in all TVS SCS quality and excellence initiatives.

Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee could be exposed to high forklift traffic and is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The associate may occasionally be required to lift 51 pounds, anything greater than 51 pounds requires assistance. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment
This job is performed in a complex manufacturing environment with multiple workstations, heavy machinery and frequent forklift traffic. The facility is subject to seasonal temperature changes. Employees must wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including steel-toed shoes and any additional equipment as specified by company safety guidelines.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
Full-Time, Exempt. Schedule flexibility for extended or unplanned work hours is required.

Education and Experience
High School degree or diploma required3+ years' experience in inventory/production planning, scheduling, or similar role in a manufacturing or industrial environmentExperience with ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) and WMS (Warehouse Management System)Forklift Certified, or the ability to become certifiedHands-on experience in a manufacturing environment involving tire and wheel operations is strongly preferred
