The (Sr./Lead) Engineer I (II), Market Simulation supports the Market Simulation Department mission by performing day-to-day FTR, Market Efficiency, Market Software Support/Enhancement and other ad hoc tasks requiring analysis, reports, coordination, stakeholder efforts, documentation and etc.
Essential Functions:
Support day-to-day Market Efficiency and FTR/ARR efforts.
Perform economic transmission planning in support of the RTEP Order 1000 Market Efficiency process using PROMOD, PLEXOS and PROBE LT market simulation software.
Support and lead the Market Simulation group in developing and maintaining the Market Efficiency generation database.
Perform power flow analysis as required to support the Market Simulation long-near and near-term analyses.
Maintain and enhance Market Efficiency and FTR/ARR internal process documentation.
Prepare reports and presentations to support the activities of the Market Simulation group.
Work with other members of the Market Services Division, Planning Division, System Operations Division, IT Division and Legal Personnel in problem-solving and streamlining processes related to FTR, Market Efficiency and Market Application Support.
Support various tasks required for PJM stakeholders efforts through the committee processes.
Provide customer support and training.
Interpret, maintain and enhance the PJM Tariff, OA, JOAs, and manuals as necessary, and recommend actions to management.
Characteristics & Qualifications:
Required:
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Electrical Power Engineering
At least 5 years of experience with Power Markets
Ability to produce high-quality work products with attention to detail
Experience in quantitative and qualitative analysis
Ability to use mathematical and electrical theory
Ability to troubleshoot and provide technical support
Experience with power flow applications such as PSS/E, PSS-MUST, TARA, PAAC, EMS or equivalent
Preferred:
Master's Degree in Electrical Power Engineering, Economics, or Business Administration
At least 5 years of experience with Forward Markets, Production Cost Simulation Tools, and Tool Development
Experience with PJM operations, markets, and planning functions
Experience using PSS/e (power system analysis program)
