Deposit Operations Manager (Finance)

Our Deposit Operations Manager will oversee operations activities including automated clearing house (ACH), share drafts, cash letter, wires, mailed check posting, digital deposits, etc. The highest level of timely posting accuracy and member satisfaction will be measures of success. In addition, all activity will be reconciled and balanced daily. Managing daily operations to ensure service level agreements are met and staff is engaged, trained, and positively contributing to the Blue Culture.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversee the processing of incoming/outgoing files, such as Fed and Remote Deposit Capture, assuring completion within established deadlines
  • Keeps staff informed of pertinent policies and procedures; creates an atmosphere in which upward communication from employees is encouraged. Makes provisions for the proper orientation and training of new staff; oversees ongoing of existing staff; trains new staff as required. Determines work procedures, prepares work schedules and expedites workflow. Reviews employee performance at the end of the introductory period and on a regularly scheduled basis thereafter.
  • Assures any required balancing and reconciling activities relating to deposit product general ledger accounts by reviewing those accounts on a regular basis.
  • Performs and oversees research and analysis of deposit accounts for various purposes; takes appropriate action.
  • Monitors and maintains compliance with regulatory changes. Ensures department staff adhere to all operating policies and procedures and external regulatory requirements; monitors adherence and takes any corrective action necessary. Administers staff policies and procedures as established by credit union policy.
  • Recommend and Implements new products and services.
  • Oversee accurate information, retention and record keeping.
  • Assists in researching errors and problems by providing potential resolutions.
  • Act as the liaison for all audit requests for the Deposit Operations departments for both internal and external auditors.
  • Establishes processing priorities to ensure daily work is processed in a timely manner.
  • Must comply with all company policies and procedures, applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control.

Knowledge and Skills

Experience

Five years to eight years of similar or related experience, including preparatory experience.

Education/Certifications/Licenses

A 2 yr college decree or two years of front-line credit union operational experience (Teller) preferred. A sound knowledge of credit union accounting fundamentals; with background knowledge of computer operations. Must have excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently with little supervision.

Interpersonal Skills

A significant level of trust, credibility and diplomacy is required. In-depth dialogue, conversations and explanations with customers, direct and indirect reports and outside vendors can be of a sensitive and/or highly confidential nature. Communications may involve motivating, influencing, educating and/or advising others on matters of significance. Typically includes subject matter experts as well as first level to middle managers.

FULL TIME POSITION

Starting Range: $62,342.04 - $69,763.72

Full Range: $59,373.38 - $89,060.07

Physical Requirements

Is able to bend, sit, and stand in order to perform primarily sedentary work with limited physical exertion and occasional lifting of up to 10 lbs. Must be capable of climbing / descending stairs in an emergency situation. Must be able to operate routine office equipment including computer terminals and keyboards, telephones, copiers, facsimiles, and calculators. Must be able to routinely perform work on computer for an average of 6-8 hours per day, when necessary. Must be able to work extended hours or travel off site whenever required or requested by management. Must be capable of regular, reliable and timely attendance.

Working Conditions

Must be able to routinely perform work indoors in climate-controlled shared work area with minimal noise.

Mental and/or Emotional Requirements

Must be able to perform job functions independently or with limited supervision and work effectively either on own or as part of a team. Must be able to read and carry out various written instructions and follow oral instructions. Must be able to complete basic mathematical calculations, spell accurately, and understand computer basics. Must be able to speak clearly and deliver information in a logical and understandable sequence. Must be capable of dealing calmly and professionally with numerous different personalities from diverse cultures at various levels within and outside of the organization and demonstrate highest levels of customer service and discretion when dealing with the public. Must be able to perform responsibilities with composure under the stress of deadlines / requirements for extreme accuracy and quality and/or fast pace. Must be able to effectively handle multiple, simultaneous, and changing priorities. Must be capable of exercising highest level of discretion on both internal and external confidential matters.
