Dept. of Public Social Services Paid Student Internship (Finance)



The County of Riverside's Department of Public Social Services is currently seeking a Paid Intern.

The in-person student internship position is based in Riverside County and offers a flexible work week consisting of approximately 40 hours per week, with flexibility granted around academic obligations. The selected candidate can anticipate the internship to be one year in length.Under supervision, assists and participates in the work performed by employees of a specific profession; Through participation, receive supervised work experience in a specific professional vocation, and performs other related duties as required.

The intern will be responsible for, but not limited to:

  • Oversee region staffing and scheduling
  • Conduct studies of operational, service, and programmatic activities
  • Organize and structure HH inventory such as clothing, toiletries, and general supplies.
  • Assist in the preparation of inventory budgets and performs cost/benefit analysis
  • May direct, train, assign, and evaluate subordinate clerical and technical personnel in the performance of routine tasks.
  • Assist the office with program evaluation efforts.
  • Support community outreach, engagement, and communications strategies
  • Participate in and support process improvement initiatives
Minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average : 2.5 GPA required. Proof of most current unofficial/official transcript with cumulative GPA must be provided at time of application as well as a resume.

Education: Applicants must be currently enrolled/attending school at an accredited college or university in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program.

Areas of Study : Public or Business Administration, Human Resources, Organizational Studies or similar, Accounting, Finance, or similar, Information Technology, or Computer Science.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Microsoft Excel and Word
  • 2.5 GPA or greater
Additional Desired Candidate Qualifications:
  • Background and knowledge on inventory control
  • Ability to create work schedules and assign staff to youth/staff structure
