Laboratory Technician (Finance)



Include in this category persons employed for the primary purpose of performing academic support, student service and institutional support activities and whose assignments would require either college graduation or experience of such kind and amount as to provide a comparable background. Include employees such as librarians, accountants, personnel, counselors, system analysts, coaches, lawyers, and pharmacists.Minimum qualifications:
  • Detail and task-oriented
  • Comfortable on a boat, in the sun, in the summer in Florida
  • A current student or recent graduate of biology, environmental science, marine science or another related field
  • Able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing

  • Joining project staff on oyster and barnacle collection trips around Tampa Bay to assist with sample and data collection
  • Various lab duties, including but not limited to:
    • Conducting accelerated solvent extractions (ASE) for future chemical analysis
    • Sample prep work (freezing and/or dehydrating biological samples, combusting/sterilizing collection jars, blending and/or grinding samples, etc.)
    • Keeping inventory of supplies
    • Lab protocol documentation & data recording
