Are you a sophomore interested in learning about careers in private or public fixed income? Would you like to get a jump start on 2027 summer internship recruiting while networking with leaders at a Fortune 100 company? PGIM will host a 2-day sophomore externship in January 2026 to educate students on its asset management business and opportunities for internships and careers with the firm.

PGIM Private & Public Fixed Income Overview:

PGIM is the asset management business of Prudential Financial, headquartered in Newark, NJ. Our externship will showcase our Private and Public Fixed Income groups within PGIM:

  • Private Fixed Income:
    • PGIM Private Capital is P GIM's private capital investment arm, managing approximately $100 billion in private debt and equity investments across more than 1,000 companies worldwide (as of 3/31/25). PPC's global footprint includes offices in Newark, New York, Chicago, Atlanta, Minneapolis, Dallas, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and several international locations. PPC focuses on long-term partnerships with middle-market companies, offering customized financing solutions and deep industry expertise:

  • Public Fixed Income:
    • PGIM Fixed Income is a global asset manager offering active solutions across all fixed income markets. Program Overview:

PGIM will host a 2-day externship on January 7th and 8th, 2026 at Prudential's Newark, NJ headquarters. This program is intended for students graduating between December 2027-May 2028. Transportation and lodging will be provided to those selected to participate in our program. Externs will engage in training, case studies, job shadowing, and networking during our program. For those selected to participate in the externship, there will also be opportunities to interview for a summer 2027 10-week paid summer internship upon conclusion of the program!

During the sophomore externship we'll be showcasing 3 different investment professional businesses across Private & Public Fixed Income. These businesses use their internship program as the main feeder into their full-time Analyst programs:

  • Private Fixed Income
    • Private Capital: Our teams span Corporate Finance, Real Assets, Alternatives, and Corporate Project Workouts. Team members are actively involved in financial modeling, due diligence, industry research, and preparing investment memos, while collaborating closely with senior leadership, portfolio managers, and external stakeholders to structure and negotiate transactions that align with strategic investment goals, all within a dynamic, high-impact environment that fosters professional growth and cross-functional collaboration.
    • Following completion of the externship, a summer 2027 internship opportunity could exist in any of the following cities: Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Minneapolis, Newark, and New York.

  • Public Fixed Income:
    • Credit Research: The Credit Research team focuses on fundamental investment analysis, defining relative value within issuer capital structures and industry sectors, and communicating investment recommendations to Portfolio Managers. The fundamental credit investment research conducted by this team is an integral component of the portfolio construction process. Day-to-day responsibilities for members of this team include industry data collection & trend analysis, financial statement analysis, financial modeling & forecasting, assessment of business & financial strategy, and monitoring market movements through daily meetings with portfolio managers, economists, and strategists. In addition, this team regularly interacts with management of issuing companies, industry consultants, and Wall Street counterparts.
    • Portfolio Analysis Group: The Portfolio Analysis Group evaluates portfolio positioning with respect to risk exposures and alpha objectives, provides portfolio construction and alignment insight, and analyzes performance drivers across a multitude of investment products and processes to deliver performance attribution. Utilizing a variety of analytical tools, the group integrates specific client guidelines, objectives, and risk tolerances into the firm's investment process to ensure complete portfolio management and analytics are in place. The group collaborates and works closely with Senior Analysts, Portfolio Managers, Traders, Risk Managers, the Quantitative Team, Credit Research, Client Advisory, and Sales and Marketing.
    • Following completion of the externship, a summer 2027 internship opportunity could exist in the following city: Newark.

What you'll need:

  • Candidates must be enrolled in an accredited bachelor's degree program graduating between December 2027 and May 2028
  • All majors welcome! Candidates should have an interest in exploring careers across asset management/investments/finance
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0 required
