Field Sales Trainer (Finance)



Field Sales Trainer

This position is remote/virtual. The ideal candidate we will be located near an airport.

The Field Sales Trainer will train and coach our external Members and internal salespeople for Animal Nutrition/Purina and Winfield United in a results focused approach, moving from selling individual products to selling integrated and data driven solutions, where broader offerings and services come together to resolve customer business problems. Additionally, the FST will be responsible to help and support business development with our members to drive sales training revenue targets. These services will include partnering with Retail Growth Strategies or WFU/AN Sales leaders on identifying opportunities to sell sales training products to our cooperatives.

The position will drive realization of our growth strategies by supporting significant shifts in sales focus, behavior, and skill. The successful sales trainer will partner with Regional Sales Directors and Retailers to make the change sustainable through specific and targeted learning interventions. This involves teaching completely new sales behaviors in terms of what reps and top sellers are selling. Building a new set of knowledge around the customer's world and the organization's capabilities, as well as equipping reps with new skills to have a very different sales conversation with broader sets of customer stakeholders. The sales trainer, Retail Directors and retail owners will guide sales reps to curriculum and coaching designed to meet their individual development needs.

The sales trainer will drive ongoing results every day by supporting, motivating and providing ongoing coaching and guidance to the sales team. The sales trainer will manage training and certification activities that ensure new strategies, processes and messaging are fully operationalized.

Support execution and adoption of Sales Center of Excellence within WinField United and Purina

  • Partner with RGS and Sales Leadership to identify external opportunities with our coop members. This includes accountability to the overall COE revenue targets.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with internal Sales Leadership, Enterprise Learning and external Cooperative colleagues to drive revenue targets and create a strong learning culture built on stakeholder management and delivering value added training services,
  • Provide subject matter expertise on the Sales Center of Excellence for WinField United and Purina teams and owners
  • Provide an aligned sales consultancy across Land O' Lakes that supports business objectives and company values through a consistent approach to learning opportunities across the organization
  • The sales trainer will build momentum around the strategy, messaging, process, and leadership behavior by working with Sales Reps in their geography on a regular basis (20 per year)
  • Support sales reps as they strategically evolve the model to position our retailers to win with growers.
  • Drive innovation by streamlining and accelerating alignment between market demands and new offerings.
  • Review assessments of all people in Region and work with Regional Sales Director and employee to develop individual learning plans to drive certification.
  • Review and track progress of each employee in relation to assigned curriculum through Brainshark and conduct monthly meetings with Regional Sales Director to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Work with Regional Director to identify talent gaps consistent across the Region and develop a learning plan to address them.
  • Create a learning environment throughout the organization that encourages people to develop themselves and each other
  • Design, and develop useful sales content, tools, training and playbooks that show sales reps how to transform their approach. Organize and lead training events.
  • Work with Talent Development Team to design, develop, organize, and facilitate training programs across the entire commercial landscape utilizing appropriate internal and external resources.
  • Provide weekly recaps and updates on all activities with assigned region
  • Adhere to expected in classroom, expense and team operational standards including expense reporting, calendars, evaluation data and attendance records

Lead facilitation of key curriculum for Winfield United and Purina Sales

  • Work with Regional Sales Directors, Manager of Agribusiness Learning and the Enterprise learning teams to identify development needs of sales and curriculum to support these needs. This includes both external cooperative members and internal employees.
  • Work with Enterprise learning and learning operations team in creation of content that will address needs of the sales organization
  • Become certified to facilitate all content that is identified by curriculum team for your areas of expertise.
  • Lead or support facilitation of all sales training for your assigned Regions.
  • Review feedback of all trainings and develop action plans to address gaps or areas of improvement in the trainings.
  • Work with Retail Management Team to understand customer/owner needs and develop a training strategy to grow sales skill in local/regional sales professionals.
  • Role model expected sales process and sales management behaviors in classroom and in the field.

Required Experience/Knowledge/Skills:

  • Bachelor'sDegree (or equivalent work experience) in Agriculture or Businessin Sales, Communications, Marketing, Agricultural Education, Organizational Effectiveness or relevant field.
  • 8 or more years pf sales training/enablement roles, related learning facilitation or sales management roles where training and coaching was a core responsibility
  • Strong knowledge of training concepts and adult learning principles
  • Preference for experience with Wilson Learning (or other leading sales training providers), Blanchard SitLead, Crucial Learning-Crucial Conversations and Franklin Covery content including Executing Strategy (4DX)
  • Exceptional facilitation, presentation skills
  • Deep understanding and passion for Sales process training, Behavioral Training, Relationship Management, Culture Development, Change Management and Agronomy
  • Ability to travel 50% of your time

Salary range: $105,400 - $157,560 (i n most cases, candidates offered employment can expect to be hired at a pay rate near the middle of our salary ranges)
