Staff Software Engineer - Node.js & React Architect (Hybrid - San Diego, CA or Acton, MA) (Finance)



Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Staff Software Engineer to lead the design and development of our scalable, high-performance web applications built with Node.js and React . You will play a critical role in shaping the architecture, guiding engineering best practices, and ensuring the long-term success of our technology stack.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and evolve the architecture of our Node.js + React.js application.
  • Define and enforce coding standards, architectural patterns, and best practices.
  • Collaborate with product managers, developers, and DevOps to align technical solutions with business goals.
  • Conduct architectural reviews and provide mentorship to development teams.
  • Evaluate and recommend tools, technologies, and frameworks.
  • Ensure scalability, security, and performance of the application.
  • Lead technical decision-making and resolve complex technical challenges.
  • Participate in code reviews and contribute to hands-on development when needed.
  • Ensures that their design is in compliance with Company policies, and that software activities are appropriate for the design and maintenance of medical products.
  • Writes and maintains design documentation and testing requirements.
  • Directs and mentors junior engineers as requested.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Education and Experience:
Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in software engineering or equivalent and 10+ years of relevant work experience.
  • Deep expertise in Node.js and React
  • Proven experience in designing, optimizing, and scaling the architecture of Node.js and React applications to ensure high performance and reliability under growing user and data loads.
  • Strong understanding of RESTful APIs, microservices, and event-driven architecture.
  • Proficiency in database design (SQL and NoSQL).
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, containerization (Docker), and cloud platforms (AWS or Azure).
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking.

Preferred Skills and Competencies:

  • Experience with TypeScript, or Next.js.
  • Experience infrastructure as code (Terraform, Kubernetes).
  • Experience with modern front-end tooling (Webpack, Babel, etc.).
  • Experience with FDA and HIPAA regulations a plus

NOTE: This position is eligible for hybrid working arrangements (requires on-site work from our San Diego, CA or Acton, MA office at least 3x/week; may work remotely other days). #LI-Hybrid

Additional Information:
The US base salary range for this full-time position is $163,050.00 - $244,575.00. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position in the primary work location in the US. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
