Job Description
PURPOSE SUMMARY. Responsible for the stable operation of the County enterprise network and computer systems. Plan, develop, install, configure, maintain, support, and optimize all network and server hardware, software, and communication links. Participate in the planning and implementation of departmental policies and procedures to ensure system provisioning, maintenance, and security is consistent with County goals, industry best practices, and regulatory requirements.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES.
Strategy & Planning
1. Participate in and support network & system design and capacity planning for long-term strategic goals for networks, systems, storage and software.
2. Assist in developing, implementing, and maintaining policies, procedures and associated training plans for network and server resource administration, appropriate use, and disaster recovery.
Acquisition & Deployment
1. Coordinate with network engineering, application services, and database administration functions to implement network and server systems that utilize industry best practices to meet county objectives.
2. Deploy servers, firewalls, encryption systems, and all host security systems.
3. Perform installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of server hardware, software, and peripheral devices.
4. Interact with contractors to implement servers, network devices and services.
5. Conduct research on emerging products, services, protocols, and standards in support of network procurement and development efforts.
Operational Management:
1. Maintain and administer the following:
2. Recommend, schedule, and perform software, hardware and network improvements, upgrades, patches, reconfigurations, repairs and/or purchases.
3. Monitor server, network, storage, application and peripheral device performance while also providing statistics and reports.
4. Ensure the integrity and security of enterprise data on host computers and during data transfer in accordance with business needs and industry best-practices.
5. Perform network and server security audits in cooperation with the Cybersecurity Administrator.
6. Perform and test routine system backups and restores.
7. Anticipate, mitigate, identify, troubleshoot, and resolve hardware and software problems on servers and networks. Escalate incidents as necessary.
8. Practice network asset management, including maintenance of network component inventory and related documentation and technical specifications information.
9. Support application development teams throughout project lifecycles.
10. Perform 24-hour on-call.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES. Other duties may be assigned. Responsible for security in respective area.
QUALIFICATIONS.
Education Associate's degree in Computer Science or related field.
Experience. Two (2) years in server and network administration. Project management experience a plus.
Education/Experience substitution. In accordance with County policy.
Licenses/Certifications. Must have a valid driver's license. Must maintain a satisfactory driving record in accordance with County policy. Comptia or Cisco certification(s) preferred.
Other (e.g., post-offer medical exam, polygraph, background check, driver's license record, etc.). Must pass NCIC background and driving record check.

Compensation Range
$55,121.10 - $91,143.12
